Our mission is to develop bamboo into a sustainable resource to support soil organic carbon, which benefits agriculture and biodiversity, within the elements of agroecology. We believe that tropical clumping bamboo and vetiver bamboo grass could function within an integrated and transformative approach to enhance holistic values. Our sustainable development goals (SDGs) are:
- Developing a soil carbon based bio-circular economy through bamboo agroforestry and regenerative agriculture. Improving soil organic carbon is the pathway towards agriculture productivity in-situ. In so doing, eradicate dependency on synthetic chemical inputs.
- Investing in strategic human capital to foster agroecological values in nutritional food production.
- Working with our academia to research on plant based active compounds for functional food and precision animal feed.
- Advocating the planting of tropical clumping bamboo and vetiver grass.
- Advocating the collection of data and knowledge within the microcosmos biosphere to support our journey towards an ecological economy.
- On a longer term, to establish
sufficient inventory of bamboo cellulose biomass for use in timber related
products to eliminate dependency on our rainforest.

Carbon Xchange's primary outreach program is developed with rural communities in Sarawak and West Malaysia. After three decades of working in-situ with the rural communities, we have established long lasting working relationship and a deeper appreciation of the local culture and values. Growing bamboo has been the common area of interest for all our stakeholders.
The Power of 10 Initiative is a community program developed by Carbon Xchange (Sarawak) Sdn. Bhd. to advocate bamboo farming. Any person interested in the program can apply for one bamboo seedling for FREE. This will allow him/her to start their journey with planting bamboo for restoration of ecosystem within their community. After 1 year, when the bamboo starts to develop culms, the farmer can start to propagate and donate 10 new bamboo planting material back into the initiative to bless another person within their community.
Bamboo is a versatile crop with multi-uses. It has vast potentials in rural economic transformation and we endeavor to expand our bamboo nursery and distribution to advocate more Malaysians to grow it.
Earthworm Advocacy
In the microscopic world hidden below our feet are invertebrates (earthworms) which play a key role in soil health.
Our earthworm advocacy starts with creating a central database for our farmers to catalog their discovery of earthworm in their farm. The information collected are:
- Farm Address (GPS Location)
- GPS location of the discovery area
- The type of earthworms, Burrowing or Composting Worms
- Date and Time of the discovery
- Pictures of the earthworms and the surrounding soil condition
- Estimated population recorded
- Additional Observation Note
For earthworm population to grow, we must provide the condition for them to survive. Earthworms need food, which are organic matter to eat and survive. Only then, will their population start to grow and they will commence to return to reconstruct and rebuild the soil structures. We want to collect practical applied knowledge which we can use to contribute to soil biodiversity research.
We start with developing a check list for the inputs, starting with moderate organic inputs to determine the re-activation of the soil systems.
